The winter storm that camped out over Texas was incredible. The snow was beautiful, but the sustained below-freezing temperatures were more than our state was prepared for.
The devastation is severe – homes burned, crops lost, food storage ruined. The need is desperate.
Here are some ways to help:
- Food Banks – San Antonio, Houston, Central Texas, North Texas
- CBC Cares: TPC Fire Relief Fundraiser for the families who lost everything in an apartment fire in San Antonio
- Kids Meals Inc delivers free meals to hungry children in Houston. They lost thousands of meals when their power went out.
- Haven For Hope supports the homeless as they transition to self-sufficiency in San Antonio.
- The Sustainable Food Center started a relief fund for Austin area farmers and ranchers suffering loss from the storm.
- The Legacy Collective has a Texas Disaster Relief Fund that will help with food, supplies and housing repairs from the storm.
- Sharon McMahon (@sharonsaysso) started this Google worksheet where people could directly help others in need.
- The Family Place in Dallas, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, had a pipe burst at their emergency shelter and had to move 123 women and children to a new location. You can donate to help them here.
- Austin Disaster Relief Network is asking for funds and volunteers to help with the fallout from this storm.
- Christian Assistance Ministries is helping the homeless population in San Antonio.
