During these cold winter months (well, cold-ish in Texas), my favorite place to be is beside a fire with a blanket and a good book. My January Favorites reflect the season. I hope you enjoy these recommendations!
- I love candy, dark chocolate and desserts. And I know, these things are so bad for my health. So when I heard about Wendy Speake’s book, The 40-Day Sugar Fast, I knew I had to commit to doing this. Honestly, I have been blown away by these daily devotions. I’m on Day 26, and already I am thinking I need to commit to re-reading this and fasting on sugar at least once a year. Even if sugar isn’t your thing, you can substitute a fast from whatever your addition is, read this devotional and your relationship with God will be changed.
- I love to soak in a warm bath using Dr. Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt and Dr. Teal’s Foaming Bath. All the scents are lovely, but I especially enjoy the Eucalyptus & Spearmint. It is a delightful indulgence!
- My next recommendation is a book and a podcast. Rebekah Lyons released her book, Rhythms of Renewal, last year, and it is great! She and her husband also began a related podcast called Rhythms for Life last year and I have enjoyed it as well. Episodes 16 (Food That Heals: Dr. Josh Axe) and 17 (Stopping Toxic Thoughts: Jennie Allen) have been very informative. I recommend both the book and the podcast.
- With the cold and flu season upon us and Coronavirus alarming us, I am recommending Organifi Immunity. I drank this to help me get over an illness last month. If you are a fan of Emergen-C, this is a healthier, more natural option to help boost your immunity. I’m also a fan of their Green Juice and Red Juice powders.
- I have one more book recommendation and this time it’s fiction. This one is a story about rebuilding a life after an unimaginable tragedy. Dear Edward is about a young boy who is the sole survivor of a commercial plane crash and it is fantastic.
