June Favorites

This June, we visited Colorado for the first time and fell in love with this area! The state has gorgeous scenery and is truly special. We can’t wait to go back. The month held some highs and lows, but I am focusing on the good and sharing some of those good things with you here, in hopes of introducing you to a few new things to enjoy. There is always something to be grateful for.

  • I read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt twice in June because I loved it so very much. I fell in love with the characters and their quirks, including a giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus. This book is a feel-good read that I will come back to again and again. The audiobook version is fantastic. If you have read or do read it, I would love to know what you think!
  • While on vacation, we made a spur of the moment decision to go to a concert at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre outside Denver. Lord Huron was playing, and although we weren’t previously huge fans, their music made the perfect soundtrack for our Colorado trip. The ampitheatre is simply incredible. I would go see any concert there. It made me think about other bucket list concert venues. The Ryman came to mind; do you have any other suggestions?
  • If you can still find them, the Firework Oreos for the 4th of July are extremely fun to eat. They have popping candy in the white filling. What a fun treat for the holiday!
  • Beautycounter reformulated their Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer (with SPF 20 mineral sunscreen) and I really like it. I wore this each day on vacation and never got sunburned. It is perfect for everyday protection when you only need light foundation coverage.
  • If you’re looking for some light-hearted entertainment, the first season of Abbott Elementary is so funny! The sitcom is set in an underfunded, inner city Philadelphia elementary school and the main character is a new teacher is who devoted to her students, but very inexperienced and idealistic. It’s really funny.
