We are a quarter of the way through the new year and I have a feeling the rest of it is also going to fly by. I hope you are making progress on your goals and living your best life!
I love sharing a few of my favorite things with you here each month in hopes that they may inspire you or bring some joy to your life. I’d love to hear about one of your favorite things right now, so leave a comment and let me know!
- I finished reading Christy Wright’s devotional, Living True: 40 Days to Get Back to You, and loved it. The devotions were short, but filled with God’s promises. Some of the days’ messages met me at just the right moment and others were great reminders. This would be a great gift for Mother’s Day or graduation.
- I was introduced to the podcast, Made For This with Jennie Allen, by a friend and I am bingeing the episodes. Sometimes she speaks with a guest and sometimes she brings the fire all on her own. The podcast is typically on the short side, but filled with wisdom and faith.
- Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and bacon always makes it extra delicious. I used to rarely make it (because of the mess) until I discovered how to bake it in the oven. Have you tried it? It cooks evenly and does not make a mess! I usually line the pan with foil to set up an even easier cleanup. You can find helpful tips for cooking bacon in the oven here on the Fed and Fit website.
- Speaking of breakfast, I was introduced to a smoothie bowl in January and it has become my favorite go-to for breakfast or lunch. I usually make a smoothie batch with 2-3 servings and freeze them until I am ready to eat them. Once defrosted, I top it with this Kind Granola, some toasted coconut and some fresh fruit (kiwi, pineapple or berries). You can easily mix healthy ingredients into the smoothie, such as flax seeds, collagen, or spinach. I found these recipes on the Joy Food Sunshine website that are similar to the ones I make.
- I was influenced on Instagram to buy these no show socks and they are fantastic! I love wearing Converse or other casual shoes (Sperry’s, etc.) but don’t like the feeling of them without socks. These no show socks stay put! This version does come about midway on the top of my foot, but the brand has another version that is more low cut (but I haven’t tried it).
- Carrie Underwood released a new album, My Savior, this month that is her spin on old Christian hymns. It is beautiful and similar to my favorite hymn album, Precious Memories by Alan Jackson. Both are truly great albums, but I prefer the country twang of Alan Jackson.
