August Favorites

Are you as excited about the fall as I am? I cannot wait for some cooler temps, a football game, fall decorations, soup and getting our fireplace going.

After taking the month of July off from writing, I am back with my monthly favorites. As always, I hope sharing some of my favorite things inspires you, bring you joy, or encourages you to think about what you are currently enjoying. I’d love to hear what some of your favorite things are, so leave a comment if you’d like to share!

  • The new album, Canyon, by Ellie Holcomb is fantastic! I haven’t really ever listened to her before, but after hearing her interview with Annie F. Downs on the That Sounds Fun podcast, my interest was piqued, and I am so thankful. This has been a hard season for many reasons, and this album has met me where I am and provided much truth and comfort. I have listened to it at least 30 times since finding it. I hope you love it, too!
  • I discovered Jeni’s Ice Cream on a trip to Nashville several years ago, and I was immediately a fan. My city does not have a Jeni’s scoop shop, so whenever we travel, I always look to see if there is a Jeni’s nearby. This month, per my request, my family drove an hour to visit the nearest Jeni’s location and it made my day! I had the Wildberry Lavender and the Rainbow Buttermilk Frozen Yogurt, and both flavors were a delight. I definitely recommend visiting Jeni’s when you are close to one!
  • I have been on the hunt for a good, clean, non-toxic mascara for many years, but kept going back to my tried-and-true Maybelline Great Lash that I have used for decades because I wasn’t a fan of the cleaner ones I had tried. My search was over when I tried Beautycounter’s new Think Big All-In-One Mascara. It’s not clumpy, it doesn’t run if I shed a couple of tears, and it covers really well! I am a big fan and it’s all I wear now. (Note: I am a Beautycounter consultant and would earn a commission if you order through my site.)
  • These Soft-Baked Funfetti Sugar Cookies by Sally’s Baking Addiction are one of my daughter’s and my favorite cookie recipes. They are quick and easy, and the colorful result always feel so festive!
  • I used to buy this delicious Humble House Cilantro & Cheddar Cheese Pesto at a local farmer’s market and loved it so much! I haven’t been able to find them for quite some time, so this month, I looked them up online to see if I could order some. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling the pesto, but they have graciously shared the recipe online!
